The coronavirus pandemic has changed the definition of normal across the world, and that is no different in Lincoln, Nebraska. Over the past few months, we have seen restaurants shift to carry-out, delivery, and contact-less service, families adjust the time spent together to be indoors and secluded, companies /schools transition to remote working/learning, as well as the general public using protective health care measures. It is now common to find people wearing face masks and gloves just to visit the grocery store or enjoy time outdoors. As time goes on we try to spend less time consuming the news and more time caring for our loved ones and learning a new way to life. We have seen individuals enjoying physical activity in creative ways, families spending quality time together, and parents becoming teachers. As a graduating college student amidst COVID-19, I have seen the community come together to celebrate milestones, birthdays, and special events in unique, memorable ways. Despite the uncertainty of the future, we must remember that this too shall pass and that there is still hope for a new normal. I hope that we never forget these unprecedented times in order to remember how important self-care, family time and quiet time really is.
